Vision and Values
Our students are immersed in a culture of PRIDE, to become thoughtful and informed citizens, able to succeed on any global platform. They take pride in everything they do and approach everything with integrity and self-worth celebrating their own and others achievements. They are resilient and persist in their endeavours in tackling any challenges they face both in learning and in life. Our students are highly numerate and literate, able to write purposefully and have fluency in their oracy, with a rich, varied vocabulary gained through a culture of reading for pleasure. They are self-motivated leaders of learning, with a good understanding of how they learn; curious in their thinking with the ability to independently solve problems through metacognitive processes.
Students exhibit a high degree of discipline through self-control and self-regulation within the school to create a calm and purposeful learning community. They show empathy and compassion when dealing with others and seek to challenge stereotypical thinking. They engage in high quality extra-curricular experiences such as sporting activities at local and national levels and performing arts activities that could rival any West End performance.
Next generation STEM (Science, Technology, Maths and Engineering) practitioners develop their expertise in a purpose-built STEM building and make their mark by excelling in national and international competitions.
Our students have a well-informed understanding and exposure to careers and the world of work so they are aspirational and sought out by employers. Excellent outcomes at KS4 enable our students to access the correct progression route, including our high quality academic sixth form provision, a springboard for large numbers of students to take up places at Russell Group universities, prestigious apprenticeships or employment.

Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre is committed to Building Brighter Futures for our students, our staff and our community. This commitment includes targeted action to address inequality and ensure disadvantaged groups are proactively supported to access the educational opportunities we offer.
We are working towards six Equality Objectives:
- To narrow the progress and attainment gaps in English and Maths for disadvantaged students and for those identified as having barriers to their learning including SEND, CLA and pCLA so they are in line with national average.
- To provide high quality provision and strong support (academic; attendance, behaviour and well-being) for students who have the most significant gaps in their learning as a result of the pandemic, with a particular focus on students in Years 10 and 12, so achievement is at least in line with national average.
- To improve the attendance rates and reduce the persistent absence of all students and in particular disadvantaged students and for those identified as having barriers to their learning including SEND, CLA and pCLA, so they are in line with national average.
- To increase student aspiration and equality of opportunity through high quality teaching and learning, careers advice and guidance and enrichment opportunities to maximise positive destinations and reduce NEET.
- To ensure that all students and staff are aware of the protected characteristics, embed a culture tolerance and respect, and ensure there is no bias, discrimination or prejudice towards these groups resulting in a reduction of negative incidents.
- To ensure staff well-being and welfare are a high priority in the decision-making processes resulting in a highly satisfied and committed workforce.
