Sports

The Hinckley School has a proud and illustrious sporting history and offers all students the opportunity to excel in a wide range of physical activities. Students have the opportunity to compete locally and nationally and are inspired by former students such as Manu Tuilagi, Vicky Fleetwood, Julia Sawkins and David Eaton who have all gone on to compete at the highest level in their sport.

High quality teaching and coaching underpins both our curriculum and extracurricular offer. This expert direction allows students to make the most of their sporting talent or spark a new passion. Our PE team is made up of highly experienced partitioners, many of whom have competed at county, regional or even national level themselves.

The Hinckley School site boasts impressive sporting facilities, including 4 rugby pitches, 3 football pitches, sports hall with indoor cricket nets, gym, four tennis courts, sand based astro pitch, gym style changing rooms with underfloor heating, pay-as-you-go lockers, hair dryers and 52inch plasma screens and mirrored dance studio.

Along with its proud sporting tradition, the department strives to cater for all levels of involvement within sport, with several schemes designed to increase participation for all students. Through the curriculum we offer a wide range of sporting opportunities including; Football, Rugby, Basketball, Hockey, Ultimate Frisbee, Golf, Trampolining, Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, Tennis, Cricket and Rounders. We also look to develop leadership and officiating skills and students can achieve a sports leaders award in Years 11 and 13. In addition to this international trips, including rugby and netball tours to South Africa, allow our students to create lifelong memories.

Our extensive extracurricular provision is regularly updated to ensure that we offer outstanding opportunities for all and previous school clubs include Kayaking, Kick Boxing, Rugby, Football, Basketball, Netball, Hockey, Athletics, Badminton, Tennis, Volleyball, Rounders and Cricket.

At The Hinckley School, sport teaches students the values of resilience, team work, hard work, leadership, communication and helps to foster a strong sense of belonging. Students are given the opportunities to achieve and excel and to understand the importance of competition and motivation.
