Pupil Premium and Covid 19 Catch Up Grant
Pupil Premium Allocation
The Pupil Premium is based on those students who have been in receipt of Free School Meals at any time during the last 6 years, or who are or have previously been in LEA care.
The amount distributed to Hinckley Academy for 2019-20 was £935 per FSM student, £1900 per Looked After and Previously Looked After Child, and £300 per child for children of HM Forces personnel.
For the current academic year, 2020-21, the allocation to schools is £955 per FSM student, and £1900 per Looked After and Previously Looked After Child. Schools will also receive £310 per HM Forces child, to be used for pastoral support.
The total allocation received by Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre during the academic year 2020-21 is based on 219 Pupil Premium, LAC and pLAC students. The aim is to utilise these resources to further reduce the attainment gap between those who have been in care, or have been in receipt of free school meals over the last 6 years, and the remainder of the cohort.
Measuring the Impact of the Pupil Premium
The impact of the Pupil Premium is constantly being assessed through the monitoring of data at key assessment points during the year. This is then used to provide intervention strategies as and when necessary, both short and long-term. Improved outcomes are individual and student-dependent, and may include attendance, behaviour for learning, engagement, organisation, examination preparation, aspiration, resilience and performance in examinations, all of which support better progress overall and ensure that our disadvantaged students are given every opportunity to succeed. Strong systems are in place to support these outcomes, and the systems and interventions are reviewed frequently to determine how even better outcomes can be achieved for our disadvantaged pupils the following year.

Coronavirus Catch Up Premium
In 2020-21, Hinckley Academy received a Covid Catch up grant. Schools are instructed to use this funding for specific activities to support pupils to catch up for lost teaching during the Covid-19 lockdown period. Schools have the flexibility how they spend this funding. The academy has employed a number of learning approaches to enable its students to benefit from the funding provided. These include several numeracy and literacy programmes which can be viewed in the attachment.
